Les Contrebandiers, an emblematic restaurant in the French Basque Country, chose Frénésie to undertake an ambitious redesign of their brand.
Born out of a shared passion of men deeply attached to their land and traditions, this restaurant offers a wine cellar as well as a "food cellar". They want to capture the essence of this blend between tradition and sharing, and translate it into a renewed, resolutely modern brand identity.
In reimagining Les Contrebandiers' brand identity, we drew inspiration from the contrabandist's secretive world, employing lithography to echo their tradition of marking secret routes.
You will also find the primary logo scattered in the wordmark: the eye, bottle, and beret, nodding to their art of hiding in plain sight. The use of open source fonts was highly encouraged and we leveraged Lambda and Cutive Mono in this alternative.
